If you hadn’t already guessed by my Instagram posts, I’ve had a bit of a shift in abode recently. Sadly it’s not a permanent move, but it’s one I’ve absolutely loved all the same because for 10 days I’ve been able to call South Kensington home. It all came about when Dad needed to hang around London for longer than expected for work and so rather than him hanging around a hotel, I found this gorge little air bnb which I’ve been able to call home for a few beautiful days. On the doorstep of the Natural History Museum and with its luxury lounge and significantly better-stocked kitchen [than my own], I’m been in seventh heaven. SW7 to be specific. My little taste of luxury has had me in raptures over gorgeous homewear and ways I can decorate my own little abode. Last year I really struggled with dressing for my first London winter. I'd wake up and see the temperature was -1 so I'd bundle myself up in so many layers I ended up looking like the Michelin Man, before literally rolling out the door. Fashion wasn't really a priority when my teeth were chattering on a daily basis. It's really hard to look stylish when your primary outfit modis operandi is for function. Often the warmest coats and jackets are of the puffa-variety and we all know there are very little style points to be won there. So, this year I've taken stock and realised it's all about accessorising this winter; once you've bundled yourself up in 5 layers, these little pieces will complete the look so your I'm-so-freezing look packs a little more style... With only ten days to go, the hysteria is building for the much awaited H&M X Balmain collection. Personally I’ve had a calendar reminder for the 5th Nov in my schedule since it was first announced at the start of the year. What can I say? Fan. Sneak peeks are slowly filtering through and thanks to our US counterparts we’ve finally got an idea of pricing; from $35 for the Balmain tee to $649 for the embellished dress. With the likes of the Hadids and the Jenners already sporting the collection, I’m simply gasping for the fashion cred’ that comes with these covetable styles. There's no doubt the winter weather has struck London already. It's now dark when my alarm goes off and each morning I find myself hurriedly shuffling around my room trying to dress as quickly as possible whilst standing next to the radiator for warmth. That's when you know it's cold. Only yesterday I read an article that said Britain is about to face a 50 year long ice age. I swear their weather reports get more and more dramatic each season. Last year they said we were in for endless blizzards and we barely ended up with a sprinkle of snow. So this year if we're set for an "ice age" then I'm thinking perhaps we'll get one snow day... Last Saturday after a crazy week at work I felt it was the perfect day for a spot of shopping. For a bit of old-world charm and to get away from the hustle and bustle of Oxford St I took a trip to Fenwick on New Bond Street. After a quick coffee (and some complimentary smarties) to supplement our energy we were ready to shop!... I’m so in love with this new dress I bought that I simply had to give it a post all of its own. I was worried the beauty of it wouldn’t translate to photos but I’m so pleased to see the magic of it transcends all mediums. I’ve never been a huge floral print gal. I usually opt for plain block shades and a touch of colour here and there, but when I saw these beautiful red flowers I thought how could I say no?… You know how much I love a bunch of blooms! ... I think it’s the perfect dress for summer occasions and considering my calendar is officially PACKED it was a no brainer. As a self-diagnosed heliophile (read: a person adapted to and attracted to sunlight) you could say I’m a little bit overexcited for my summer holiday in Greece. [Only 68 days and counting!] So much so, that I have already mentally packed my suitcase, and anything remotely summery that I’m purchasing at the moment is with the intent to wear on the islands. Only a couple of weeks left until I turn the big 25. A quarter century – wow; it really gets you thinking but I’m pretty chuffed to say I’m very happy, content and grateful to be where I am right now. My actual birthday is a Bank Holiday here in the UK (thanks England!) so I’m taking myself off on a long weekend trip to Switzerland! A funny thing happened in London this past week. Where there was once a sea of heads in the crowd, this has now been replaced by a sea of beanies, fedoras and baker boy caps.
